The NOPD Fourth District detectives conducted a follow-up investigation regarding an aggravated assault incident that led to the arrest of Kevin Owens (DOB: 07-06-1985) and Jessica Miles (DOB: 05-06-1986).

The incident happened in the 2200 block of Springbrook Lane. The victim told police he approached Owens’ residence attempting to sell a Wii-Fit game for an acquaintance. Owens took the property from the victim and relocated into his apartment. After waiting for the subject to make a decision about the property, the victim knocked on the subject’s door. Owens opened the door and reportedly pointed a semi-automatic weapon at the victim and demanded him to leave.

During the investigation, officers obtained a search warrant and recovered the weapon used in this incident, the stolen property taken from the victim and identified Owens as the perpetrator. While executing the search warrant, detectives observed a bag which contained a large amount of electrical fuses. It was later learned that the electrical fuses had been stolen from several apartments in the area.

Owens was booked into the Orleans Justice Center for theft, aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of stolen property. Miles was also charged with possession of stolen property and outstanding warrant from out of parish for theft by shoplifting.
