NOPD Investigates Homicide on Lafaye Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the 4700 block of Lafaye Street.

Just after midnight, around 12:15 a.m. NOPD Child Abuse detectives investigated the death of a known 3-week-old male. Third District officers responded to a call of a child who had fallen. Upon arrival, officers discovered the infant unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the incident was deemed an unclassified death.

An autopsy conducted by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office determined that the victim died because of his injuries. Further evidence discovered led the investigation to be reclassified as a homicide.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office releases the names of victims and the official cause of death.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
