The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred in the early hours today (June 11, 2026) in the 4900 block of Saint Charles Avenue, in the Second District.
At about 3:39 a.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of a possible hit-and-run vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an injured unknown adult male bicyclist down at the location. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.
Upon further investigation, detectives determined that the subject had been operating an electric bicycle at the location and struck a curb, the impact of which threw the victim from the bicycle.
