NOPD Investigating Homicide by Shooting in Seventh District

New Orleans - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide by shooting that occurred in the Seventh District.

According to investigators, shortly before 6:05 p.m. today, Seventh District officers responded to multiple calls of a shooting in the 7800 block of Sand Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. New Orleans Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

As Homicide Division detectives conducted their investigation, they learned that two additional victims from the same incident had arrived separately at local hospitals via private transportation with gunshot wounds. Both victims are currently listed in stable condition.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and determine the official cause of death following notification of family members and completion of an autopsy.

The investigation remains ongoing.
