NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide by shooting that occurred on June 16, 2026, in the Fifth District.
According to investigators, Fifth District officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly before 4:08 p.m. in the 1200 block of Bartholomew Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had arrived at the location in his vehicle when the suspect began firing shots at him. The victim was struck multiple times.
New Orleans EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation remains ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity following notification of next of kin and will determine the official cause of death.
