NOPD Seeking Person and Vehicle of Interest in Fifth District Homicide

The NOPD is asking for the public's assistance in locating a person and vehicle of interest in the investigation of a homicide that occurred in the 1800 block of Lizardi Street.

On February 20, 2024, at about 3:18 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult black male on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.

Through investigation, Homicide Detectives developed Dedric Refuge (pictured, DOB: 8/20/1991) as a person of interest.

Refuge is not currently wanted but may have knowledge relevant to this homicide investigation.

Detectives are also trying to locate the pictured 2014 Nissan Altima (LA license plate 891FGK) in relation to the investigation. The vehicle has damage to the front-end driver side.

Anyone with information that can assist in this investigation is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at (504) 658-5300 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111.
