The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (June 16, 2023) in the 5100 block of General DeGaulle Drive that left a male victim dead.
At about 5:25 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a 28-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. Therefore, no additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
