Suspect Arrested in NOPD Investigation of 2020 Homicide Incident

Today (June 9, 2022), the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Ryan Williams (pictured, black male, DOB: 10-19-1980) in the investigation of a homicide on September 16, 2020, in the 1600 block of Desire Street.

At about 6:14 p.m. on September 16, 2020, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot wound victim. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Williams as the perpetrator in this incident. On February 4, 2021, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Williams on one count of second-degree murder.

Williams was located today at a residence in the 2300 block of Frenchmen Street and arrested without incident. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. During the subsequent execution of a search warrant on the residence, two firearms were located within the residence.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Det. Michael Poluikis at 504-658-5300.
