NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fourth District

Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a Homicide that left a 44-year-old man dead. The offense occurred on today, shortly before 12:00 P.M., in the 1800 block of Newton Street.

According to investigators, Fourth District officers responded to a call of a shooting and upon their arrival, the officers located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced the man dead on scene.

Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for the Homicide and a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim and conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
