NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (June 2, 2022) in the 2300 block of Saint Anthony Street that left one person dead.

At about 12:04 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male gunshot wound victim. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
