NOPD Identifies Additional Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old juvenile black male (not pictured), in the ongoing investigation of a homicide that occurred on April 14, 2022, in the 3700 block of Mansfield Drive.

At about 9:45 p.m. on April 14, NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

On April 18, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim in this incident as 19-year-old Jestin Kinard.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified the juvenile as a perpetrator in this incident. On June 1, detectives secured an arrest warrant for the juvenile on one count of second-degree murder.

The juvenile is the second suspect identified in this incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Felipe Brown-Sotello on May 29, later learning that he was incarcerated in Lafayette, La. on a probation violation.

Anyone that has additional information on this incident or information on the juvenile suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Det. James Fyfe at 504-658-5300 or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
