NOPD Arrests Second Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad today (June 15, 2022) arrested Tujuan Montrell (black male, DOB: 05-11-2004) in the investigation of a homicide on May 15, 2022, in the 5700 block of Crowder Boulevard.

At about 8:17 p.m. on May 15, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot wound victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

On May 17, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 26-year-old Mel Green.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Montrell as a perpetrator in this incident. Earlier today, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Montrell on one count of second-degree murder. NOPD VOWS officers located and arrested Montrell today at a residence on Maumus Avenue in the Fourth District.

Montrell is the second suspect arrested in this investigation. On June 9, officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile black male on a second-degree murder charge in connection with this investigation.
