NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (June 9, 2021) in the 2500 block of Saint Anthony Street.

At about 7:49 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female inside of a vehicle and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene, at which time the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identity the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
