NOPD is investigating a homicide that in the Third District.
A call reporting shots fired near the intersection of Abundance Street and St. Roch Avenue was received at 6:08 a.m. When responding officers arrived, they discovered an adult male victim suffering from an undetermined number of gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by EMS where he later died.
Investigators are in the process of gathering information that will help them identify a person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
