NOPD Announces Significant Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between June 6-13

Listed below are significant arrests or clearances through warrants or exception obtained between June 6-13, 2021 in investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On June 11, 2021, the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and the U.S. Marshals arrested Bryan M. Andry (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-01-1974), who was wanted for second-degree murder in a homicide on June 8, 2021 in the 1500 block of North Dorgenois Street. Andry was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on a charge of second-degree murder.
  • The NOPD, with the assistance of the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals, arrested five suspects in the ongoing investigation of a homicide that occurred on May 30, 2021 in the 500 block of Delery Street. Each suspect was arrested on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Those arrested include:
    • Dantrell J. Brown (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-15-2001), arrested on June 8 by NOPD VOWS and the U.S. Marshals and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
    • Pernell J. Young Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-17-2002), arrested on June 11 by the St. Bernard Parish Sherriff’s Office. Young has since been transferred and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
    • Dorian Ratliff (not pictured, black male, DOB: 04-29-2001), arrested on June 9 in St. Bernard Parish, where is currently remains incarcerated.
    • Marcus J. Venible (pictured, black male, DOB: 12-05-2002), arrested on June 9 and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. Venible was additionally charged with one count of accessory to second-degree murder.
    • Tyrese L. Riley (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-17-2001), arrested on June 11 by St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office. Riley has since been transferred and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

  • NOPD Homicide Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Darren Mercadel (not pictured, black male, DOB: 08-21-1993) for second-degree murder in the ongoing investigation of a homicide by cutting on June 9 in the 5400 block of North Villere Street. Shootings

  • On June 11, 2021 NOPD First District detectives arrested two 17-year-old juvenile male suspects for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Canal Street on June 6.
  • On June 7, 2021, NOPD First District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Amir Jackson (not pictured, black male, DOB: 08-29-2002) for attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm. The incident occurred at the intersection of Castiglione and Rosiere streets on May 24.   • On June 7, 2021, NOPD Seventh District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for a 14-year-old juvenile male suspect for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 7600 block of Kingsport Boulevard on June 7.   • On June 6, 2021, NOPD First District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jamonne Cornelius (not pictured, male, DOB: 11-26-2002) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 3500 block of Gravier Street on May 24.   • On June 6, 2021, NOPD Fourth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Cale Barron Moore (not pictured, black male, DOB: 12-17-2001) for attempted second-degree murder. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Behrman Highway on June 1.

Armed Robbery

  • On June 11, 2021, NOPD Seventh District officers arrived at a location where court officials were serving legal documents on a subject subsequently learned to be wanted for an armed robbery that occurred in the Second District. The wanted subject, identified as Randy Lewis (pictured, black male, DOB: 12-07-1990), refused to surrender and barricaded himself inside a location in the 12300 block of North I-10 Service Road. Lewis, who was wanted for an armed robbery that occurred May 10, 2021, in the 8100 block of Oak Street, later surrendered without incident. Lewis was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked for armed robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.
  • On June 10, 2021, Isadore Foreman (not pictured, black male, DOB: 08-29-1971) was arrested in Kenner, La. for armed robbery. The incident occurred in the 12330 block of South I-10 Service Road in New Orleans on June 10. Foreman remains incarcerated in Jefferson Parish at this time. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and Kenner Police Department assisted in this operation.
  • On June 7, 2021, NOPD Second District detectives arrested Kendrick Gordon (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-17-2000) for armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm and violation of a protective order. The incident occurred on May 26 in the 1300 block of South Norman C. Francis Parkway.

Other significant arrests

  • On June 11, 2021, NOPD VOWS and the U.S. Marshals arrested Anthony Rashawn Hunt (pictured, black male, DOB: 09-19-1983), who was wanted by the Moss Point (Miss.) Police Department for a May 27 homicide in that jurisdiction. Hunt was located in the 3900 block of Tulane Avenue and, after a brief standoff, was taken into custody without further incident. Hunt is currently held in the Orleans Parish Justice Center awaiting extradition, in addition to facing local charges of simple criminal damage to property.
