NOPD Investigates Homicide on Deers Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Deers Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of a female victim.

At around 5:26 a.m., Third District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting in the 3200 block of Deers Street. Once at the location, officers saw an SUV engulfed in flames. The New Orleans Fire Department was then notified and arrived on the scene to take out the fire.

Officers and members of the fire department then discovered a deceased male victim in the vehicle.  

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
