The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the 3300 block of Mandeville Street.
At around 9:22 a.m., Third District officers responded to shots fired in the area. Once on scene, officers discovered a deceased male victim inside of a residence suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds at the time and a second male subject suffering from injuries.
Through the course of the initial investigation, officers determined that the deceased victim sustained injuries related to being cut and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Officers also determined that shots were fired but no one suffered from any gunshot wounds during the incident.
The second male victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries by EMS.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
The investigation is still ongoing.
