The NOPD is investigating a fatality that occurred today (June 13, 2017) on St. Louis Street near the Mississippi River.
Just before 2 p.m., Eighth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident with injury on St. Louis Street at the Public Belt railroad crossing. Upon arrival, officers discovered the unresponsive body of a white male lying along the railroad tracks. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
