NOPD Investigating Fatal Stabbing at Calliope Street and Loyola Avenue

NOPD Investigating Fatal Stabbing at Calliope Street and Loyola Avenue

The NOPD is investigating a fatal stabbing today (June 10, 2017) near the intersection of Calliope Street and Loyola Avenue.

At about 5:45 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a medical call in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive white female lying under the US-90 B overpass and suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
