Major Narcotics Unit Arrests Suspect Wanted for Second Degree Murder After Crimestoppers Tip

The NOPD's Specialized Investigation Division (SID) Major Case Narcotics Section arrested Donald Dudley (DOB: 8/28/1985) after he was found to be in possession of heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, marijuana and a 9mm handgun.

On June 5, 2017, members of the Major Case Narcotics Unit conducted surveillance in the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue after receiving a Crimestoppers tip about an unknown subject, later identified as Donald Dudley, in the area selling drugs to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

While in the area, investigators observed a vehicle driving in the block. They then observed one of the occupants of the vehicle exit and approach Dudley. Dudley and the subject engaged in what detectives believe to be a hand-to-hand transaction.   After the transaction, the detectives observed Dudley gather his belongings, enter into the vehicle and leave the scene with the same occupants.

Investigators then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and confiscated marijuana, heroin, ecstasy, crack cocaine and a 9mm semi-automatic which was located in Dudley’s waistband.  While conducting a name check, investigators learned that Dudley also had an outstanding warrant for principal to second degree murder and had been convicted for armed robbery.

Dudley was later booked for distribution, possession with the attempt to distribute crack cocaine and heroin, simple possession of marijuana and ecstasy and felon in possession of a firearm.

Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
