The NOPD has arrested Robert A. Shavers (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-17-1979) in its investigation of multiple business burglaries that have occurred in the Fifth District within the past three months.
Through investigation, NOPD Fifth District detectives developed and positively identified Shavers as the perpetrator of at least 11 business burglary incidents in the district, specifically at local churches. These incidents include:
- an incident that occurred on May 14, 2026, in the 6300 block of North Claiborne Avenue.
- an incident that occurred on May 17, 2026, in the 2400 block of Flood Street.
- an incident that occurred on May 25, 2026, in the 1400 block of Fats Domino Avenue.
- an incident that occurred on June 2, 2026, in the 4200 block of North Derbigny Street.
- an incident that occurred on June 28, 2026, in the 6000 block of North Claiborne Avenue.
- an incident that occurred on June 29, 2026, in the 1700 block of Gordon Street.
- an incident that occurred on June 30, 2026, in the 1400 block of Flood Street.
- an incident that occurred on July 1, 2026, in the 6300 block of North Claiborne Avenue.
- an incident that occurred on July 3, 2026, in the 1400 block of Fats Domino Avenue.
- an incident that occurred on July 3, 2026, in the 6000 block of North Roberston Street.
- an incident that occurred on July 5, 2026, in the 2600 block of Burgundy Street.
Shavers was located and apprehended without incident on July 15, 2026. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Justice Center.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
