NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

 NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on July 9, 2025 in the 8000 block of Trapier Ave.

At about 4:18 p.m. on July 9, NOPD Seventh District officers were notified of a shooting incident in the 9500 block of Hayne Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers locating an adult male gunshot wound victim. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital. Through further investigation, the location of occurrence was determined to be the 8000 block of Trapier Avenue.

Later in the evening, the victim was declared deceased at the hospital. The signal for the incident was then changed to a homicide.

NOPD Homicide Section detectives are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and determine official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
