NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fourth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the 3700 block of Texas Drive that was initially reported as an unclassified death earlier today (July 31, 2024) and involving a deceased male.

At about 7:18 a.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of a male subject down at the listed location. EMS arrived on scene and declared the subject to be deceased. At that time, the incident was deemed an unclassified death. The victim’s remains were then transported to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy.

During autopsy, it was found that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound. Upon this discovery, the incident was reclassified as a homicide and NOPD Homicide Section detectives assumed command of the investigation.

No additional information is currently available.
