The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this morning (July 10, 2024) in the 2700 block of Decatur Street and left an adult male victim dead.

At about 7:23 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a deceased individual at the location. Upon arrival, officers located the victim unresponsive inside of a residence. The victim was subsequently declared deceased on scene. Through additional investigation, officers found evidence of trauma and notified Homicide Section detectives.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
