NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the overnight hours today (July 14, 2022) at the intersection of St. Philip and Treme streets that left one person dead.

At about 12:46 a.m., NOPD First District officers near the location responded to a report of a person down at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim lying in the street and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
