NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

Today (July 27, 2022), the NOPD arrested Nathanial Anderson (black male, DOB: 07-11-1992) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on July 20, 2022, in the 2200 block of Baronne Street.

At about 6:27 p.m. on July 20, NOPD Sixth District officers were notified of an aggravated battery by shooting incident at the location. Upon investigation, it was determined that during an altercation following a vehicle accident, the suspect firing gunshots at the victim. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

During the investigation, the second subject was detained at the scene for questioning. Upon further investigation, the subject – later identified as Anderson – was determined to be the perpetrator in this incident. Anderson was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for felon in possession of a firearm and for violation of parole.

On July 24, the victim in this incident was declared deceased at a local hospital. Upon autopsy, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office ruled the cause of death to be a homicide from a gunshot wound and publicly identified the victim as 70-year-old Clarence Henderson.

Upon this development, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Anderson on one count of second-degree murder. Anderson was rebooked on the charge.
