NOPD Announces Significant Arrests, Clearances Between July 17-23

Listed below are significant arrests or clearances by warrant obtained July 17-23, 2022, in criminal investigations by the NOPD:

 

Homicide

  • On July 20, the NOPD arrested Rashaad Washington (black male, DOB; 05-11-1996) on a charge of second-degree murder. The arrest was made in the investigation of a homicide on May 15 in the 700 block of South Roman Street. Washington was already incarcerated in Jefferson Parish and will be booked in Orleans Parish on the charge.
  • On July 18, the NOPD arrested Derrick Anderson (black male, DOB; 05-17-2004) on a charge of second-degree murder. The arrest was made in the investigation of a homicide on June 28 in the 1700 block of Abundance Street. Anderson was already incarcerated in Orleans parish on unrelated charges and was re-booked on the additional charge.
  • On July 16, the NOPD arrested Kawanda Williams (back female, DOB: 06-18-1993) on one count of domestic second-degree murder. The arrest was made in the investigation of a homicide on July 16 in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

First District

  • On July 18, NOPD First District detectives announced that an arrest warrant had been obtained for Czar Nicholas (black male, DOB: 01-01-1975) on a charge of domestic aggravated battery by shooting. The warrant was obtained in the investigation of an incident on July 17 in the 1100 block of Canal Street. Anyone with information on Nicholas’ whereabouts is urged to call NOPD First District detectives at 504-658-6010 or to call Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans anonymously at 504-822-1111.

Second District

  • On July 17, Louisiana State Police and NOPD Second District officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male and a 16-year-old juvenile female on charges of attempted homicide, armed robbery with a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile. The arrests were made in connection with an armed carjacking incident on July 17 in the 5600 block of Loyola Avenue.

Fourth District

  • On July 21, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested a 15-year-old juvenile black male and a 14-year-old juvenile black male on one count each of simple burglary and for criminal damage to property. The arrests came in the investigation of an incident on July 21 in the 3600 block of Texas Drive. Investigation is ongoing as to the juveniles’ possible involvement in additional vehicle burglary incidents in the area.

Fifth District

  • On July 22, NOPD Fifth District officers arrested Kevin Wilkens (black male, DOB: 03-10-1993) on multiple drug and firearms charges. The arrest was made in the investigation of a traffic stop on July 22 at the intersection of France and North Villere streets.

Sixth District

  • On July 16, NOPD Sixth District officers arrested Shelvon Cooks (black male, DOB: 06-29-2003) on a charge of armed robbery with a firearm. The arrest was made in the investigation of an incident on July 16 in the 3500 block of Laurel Street.

Seventh District

  • On July 17, NOPD Seventh District officers arrested a 16-year-old juvenile black male for aggravated second-degree battery. The arrest was made in the investigation of a shooting incident on July 17 in the 12900 block of Chief Menteur Highway.
  • On July 19, NOPD Seventh District officers arrested Jerreo Ridgley (black male, DOB: 12-01-19840 on charges including illegal carrying of a weapon (two counts), resisting an officer, violation of protective orders, criminal damage to property, aggravated assault with a firearm (two counts) and illegal discharge of a firearm. The arrest was made in connection with an incident on July 19 in the 7900 block of Alabama Street.

Eighth District

  • On July 20, NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Pedro A. Allen (black male, DOB: 12-04-1998) on multiple firearm and narcotics charges. The arrest was made in connection with an incident on July 20 in the 100 block of Exchange Place.
  • On July 17, NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Jeanee I. Bailey (black female, DOB: 01-07-1995) for illegal discharge of a firearm. The arrest was made in the investigation of an incident that occurred on July 17 at the intersection of Lafayette and Tchoupitoulas streets.
