NOPD VOWS Unit, U.S. Marshals Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals today (July 30, 2021) arrested Barry Bowie (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-07-1979) in the investigation of a homicide on June 7, 2021 in the 1900 block of Saint Ann Street.

At around 6:40 p.m., First District officers responded to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he died.

The victim was later identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office as Henry James.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed Bowie as a suspect and later positively identified him as the perpetrator. An arrest warrant was obtained for Bowie on one count of second-degree murder.

Bowie was located and arrested without incident today. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center and was additionally booked on an active warrant out of Texas.
