NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Fifth District Attempted Homicide

On June 30, 2021, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Jamel Michael Clark (pictured, black male, DOB; 08-21-1985) in the investigation of an attempted homicide incident at the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and North Derbigny Street on June 8, 2021.

Clark is accused of arriving at the victim’s residence and taking custody of the pair’s daughter without permission. As the victim reportedly attempted to stop Clark from fleeing the scene, Clark allegedly drove into her and forced her onto the hood of the vehicle. After reaching high rates of speed, Clark reportedly forced the victim from the hood of the car and ran her over with the vehicle multiple times and caused multiple life-threatening injuries before fleeing the scene.

Through investigation, Fifth District detectives positively identified Clark as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Clark was discovered to be located at a residence in Kenner, La. NOPD VOWS and U.S. Marshals arrived at the location and arrested Clark without incident. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for attempted first-degree murder, domestic abuse battery, battery on a dating partner (strangulation) and unauthorized use of a moveable.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050.
