NOPD Identifies Suspects Wanted in Reckless Operation Investigation

The NOPD has obtained arrest warrants for two suspects in reckless operation incidents that occurred in the Eighth District on July 11, 2021.

At about 5:11 p.m., a large crowd had gathered at the intersection of South Peters and Saint Joseph streets. In the middle of the crowd in the intersection, several vehicles were found to be conducting an illegal exhibition where vehicles were doing “donuts” in the intersection and driving recklessly.

In response to this event, NOPD Eighth District detectives began identifying subjects involved in the event, those who aided in blocking traffic and those who were spectating. Through this ongoing investigation, Nickolaz Rodriguez (pictured at left, unknown male, DOB: 06-09-1997) was identified as an individual who aided in blocking traffic for the exhibition. A warrant has been obtained for his arrest for aiding in the obstruction of a roadway during a speed contest/exhibition.

Additionally, detectives have positively identified Cody Hoffpauir (pictured at right) white male, DOB; 07-01-1998) was identified in a reckless driving incident at the intersection of Dave Dixon Drive and Le Rouge Lane in connection with the aforementioned incident. Hoffpauir is wanted for reckless operation, disregarding a stop sign and failure to drive within traffic lanes.
