NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Angelyc Seely (pictured, black female, DOB: 06-20-1986) in the investigation of a homicide on July 17, 2021 in the 1400 block of North Broad Street.

At about 6:24 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of disturbance at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an infant male with apparent stab wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

An adult female, later identified as Seely, was transported from the scene via EMS for treatment of apparent self-inflicted wounds. Seely was determined to be the mother of the infant victim.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives determined Seely to be the perpetrator in this incident and obtained a warrant for her arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.

Upon release from medical care, Seely was placed under arrest and transferred to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where she was booked accordingly.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Det. Walter Edmond at 504-658-5300 or call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
