NOPD Announces Significant Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between July 17-26

Listed below are significant arrests or clearances through warrants or exception obtained between July 17-24, 2021 in investigations by the NOPD:

 

Homicide

  • On July 26, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Mike Wyatt (pictured, black male, DOB: 09-24-1996) in the investigation of a homicide by shooting in the 12100 block of North I-10 Service Road on July 6. Wyatt was booked on one count of second-degree murder and on an outstanding warrant out of Jefferson Parish.
  • On July 23, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Preston Higgs (pictured, black male, DOB: 06-11-1984) in the investigation of a homicide on March 4 in the 1200 block of Desire Street. Higgs was arrested by the U.S. Marshals in Indiana on July 8 and was extradited back to New Orleans. He was booked on one count of second-degree murder.
  • On July 22, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Joshua Blancher (pictured, white male, 08-30-1983) in the investigation of a homicide by shooting in the 1800 block of Saint Anthony Street on July 11. He was booked on one count of second-degree murder. Blancher was also arrested on outstanding warrants for two additional incidents. He was arrested for aggravated battery by shooting, aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon for an incident at the intersection of Frenchman and North Johnson streets on July 11. He was also arrested for aggravated battery by shooting and illegal use of a weapon for an incident in the 1400 block of Mandeville Street on July 5.
  • On July 22, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Robert Jones V (pictured, black male, 01-04-1994) in the investigation of a homicide by shooting in the 7700 block of Briarwood Drive on July 22. Jones was booked on charges of second-degree murder, domestic abuse aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon and a parole violation.
  • On July 19, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Alvin Severin Jr., (pictured, black male, 12-15-2001) in the investigation of a homicide by cutting in the 5000 block of De Bore Circle on July 19. He was booked on one count of second-degree murder.
  • On July 17, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Angelyc Seely (pictured, black female, DOB: 06-20-1986) in the investigation of a homicide by cutting in the 1400 block of North Broad Street on July 17. She was booked on one count of second-degree murder.

Shootings

  • On July 23, NOPD Third District officers arrested Sean Walsh (pictured, white male, DOB; 10-06-1987) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 4400 block of Eastern Street on July 23.
  • On July 23, NOPD Third District officers arrested Heath Robinson (pictured, white male, DOB; 10-29-1979) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 4800 block of France Road on July 23. An additional suspect remains wanted in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-111.
  • On July 22, NOPD Fourth District detectives arrested Lamont Belle (pictured, black male, DOB; 06-11-1995) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred at the intersection of L.B. Landry Drive and General DeGaulle Drive on July 5.
  • On July 22, NOPD Sixth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Debroah Cooper (not pictured, black female, DOB; 11-07-1990) for aggravated battery by shooting and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Freret Street on July 22.
  • On July 21, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested Onassys Bloomberg (pictured, black female, DOB: 10-26-1978) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 30 block of Lakewood Estates Drive on July 21.

Armed Robbery

  • On July 20, NOPD Fourth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Kaineshia Videau (not pictured, black female, DOB: 08-13-1997) for accessory to armed robbery with a firearm. The incident occurred at the intersection of General de Gaulle and Shirley drives on June 30.

Other significant arrests

  • On July 18, NOPD Third District detectives arrested Kaitlyn Creshon (pictured, black female, DOB: 04-21-1991) for filing a false affidavit and filing false public records. Creshon initially reported herself to be the victim of an armed carjacking on July 18. After investigation, it was determined that Creshon had falsely reported the crime for the purpose of committing insurance fraud.
