NOPD Announces Significant Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between July 11-17

Listed below are significant arrests or clearances through warrants or exception obtained between July 11-17, 2021 in investigations by the NOPD:

Shootings

  • On July 16, NOPD Second District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Donald Oliver (pictured, black male, DOB: 09-09-1973) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of South Genois Street on July 16.   • On July 14, NOPD Sixth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Dominique Hines (not pictured, black male, DOB: 02-14-1990) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 2900 block of Toledano Street on July 14.   • On July 14, NOPD Seventh District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Lanita Hackett Williams (not pictured, black female, DOB: 01-13-1967) for principal to aggravated battery by shooting and for Michael Askins (not pictured, black male, DOB: 02-13-1963) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred at Hayne Boulevard and Means Avenue on July 13.   • On July 12, NOPD Fifth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Aubrey Harris III (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-22-1959) for aggravated battery by shooting and aggravated assault. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of North Galvez Street on July 11. Armed Robbery

  • On July 11, NOPD Sixth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Shannon Lumpkin (not pictured, black male, DOB: 04-18-1982) for armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The incident occurred in the 700 block of 2nd Street on July 11. Other significant arrests

  • On July 17, the “NO & PD” worked together to effect a significant arrest in the First District. The District Community Action Team (DCAT) was patrolling on a walking beat near the intersection of Saint Louis and North Galvez streets when they were called by a citizen to the 400 block of North Galvez Street in reference to a subject with a rifle reportedly arguing with persons outside. When officers arrived, they observed a subject wearing a black shirt and long shorts with a rifle. The subject allegedly discarded the firearm and then fled from officers into the block to evade detainment. Through effective communication, organization and teamwork, a perimeter was set up and officers were able to make an apprehension of the subject, identified as Calvin Blanks (05-10-1990).  Blanks was known wanted subject for simple robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon aggravated battery by cutting and was subsequently charged again with possession of a firearm by a felon. Blanks was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center without further incident and was charged accordingly.
