NOPD Arrests Suspect in Multiple Seventh District Burglaries

The NOPD today announced the arrest of Karell Marquis Portis (pictured, DOB: 04-23/1993), who is suspected to have been involved in several burglaries in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

At about 5:25 a.m., an individual later identified as Portis was arrested after he allegedly committed a burglary of the supply room at an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway by way of forced entry. Upon identification by responding units, Portis gave chase and was quickly apprehended.

During arrest, officers learned that Portis was wanted for three simple burglary and simple criminal damage incidents at two motels in the same area earlier this month.

Anyone with additional information on these incidents is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
