Suspect Sought in Fourth District Aggravated Assault Incident

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Hermisha Curtis (DOB: 10-09-1991) on multiple charges in the investigation of an aggravated assault incident on July 5, 2019 in the 2900 block of General DeGaulle Drive.

Through investigation, NOPD Fourth District detectives learned that at about 3:48 p.m., a female subject later identified as Curtis reportedly entered a Family Dollar store from which she had been previously banned for shoplifting. When told to leave the store, Curtis allegedly pushed an employee. She then reportedly retrieved a knife from her handbag and lunged toward the victim’s face with the knife. While armed, Curtis allegedly threatened to kill another store employee. Curtis then reportedly exited the store and used the knife to puncture two tires on the victim’s vehicle.

When located, Curtis will be arrested for aggravated assault, simple battery, criminal trespass, and simple criminal damage to property.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Hermisha Curtis is asked to contact NOPD Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040, or call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
