Suspect Wanted for Second-Degree Murder in Death of Toddler

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Jilder Miranda (DOB: 10-08-90) for second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after an incident that occurred on May 19, 2018.

At about 5 p.m., a 2-year-old boy suffered multiple injuries to his entire body in the 2300 block of Bienville Street due to blunt force trauma. The child later died from his injuries, and the incident was considered an unclassified death at the time.

Through the course of the investigation, Child Abuse detectives determined that Miranda, the child’s father, inflicted the injuries on the child.

Miranda is wanted for one count of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and one count of second-degree murder.

Anyone with any information on the location of Jilder Miranda should contact any Child Abuse detective at 504-658-5267. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
