NOPD Searches for Suspect in Theft Incident on Decatur Street

Officers in the Eighth District are searching for the pictured subject after he reportedly removed a large amount of cash from a business located in the 1000 block of Decatur Street.

The incident happened at or around 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018. The reporting person told police he reviewed surveillance footage from the business and observed an unknown black male enter the business carrying a duffle bag.

The perpetrator reportedly walked directly to a storage cabinet, removed a pair of bolt cutters from his bag and attempted to pry open the cabinet. The subject gained entry into the cabinet, removed the currency from inside and placed it into his duffle bag, before fleeing the scene.

The subject allegedly relocated to a Walmart located in the 1900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street, where he purchased new clothes.
