NOPD Arrests Suspect in Possession of Fraudulent Motor Vehicle Inspection Tags

The NOPD has arrested Lamont Fletcher (DOB: 10-30-1973) after he was found to be in possession of numerous fraudulent versions of State of Louisiana and City of New Orleans motor vehicle inspection tags.

On July 9, 2018, NOPD Sixth District Task Force officers conducted a narcotics investigation at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South Liberty Street. During the investigation, officers discovered seven new motor vehicle inspection stickers in Fletcher’s possession – four fraudulent State of Louisiana tags and three City of New Orleans tags. Closer examination showed that two of the stickers had the same serial numbers and that the stickers did not have the unique security features found on legitimate inspection tags.

Fletcher was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for seven counts of forgery of a motor vehicle inspection certificate. In addition, Fletcher was found to also be wanted by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for theft and forgery.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060.
