NOPD Investigating Auto Theft, Attempted Auto Theft Incidents

NOPD Investigating Auto Theft, Attempted Auto Theft Incidents

The NOPD is requesting assistance from the public to provide any information related to numerous auto theft incidents reported over recent days.

  • On June 17, 2017, an attempted auto theft occurred in the First District in the 2900 block of Maurepas Street. At about 2:34 p.m., surveillance video from the victim’s home captured images of four individuals attempt to steal the victim’s 2007 Vespa scooter. However, the victim arrived home and was able to thwart the attempt. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact First District detectives at 504-658-6010.

  • On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, an auto theft occurred in the Eighth District in the 1900 block of Dauphine Street. At about 1:05 p.m., the victim had parked his silver 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage bearing Louisiana license plate #ZQT527 at a nearby restaurant. The victim told police that the keys had been left in the ignition. Surveillance video captured footage of the four pictured subjects approaching the area. One of the subjects was seen entering the vehicle and driving away from the location, while the remaining three subjects served as lookouts. The vehicle was later found abandoned on June 28 in the Fifth District at the intersection of Feliciana and Humanity streets.   • On July 2, 2017, an auto theft occurred in the First District at the intersection of North Robertson at Iberville. At about 5 p.m., the victim parked his white 2011 Chevrolet Camaro bearing Louisiana license plate #ZIU668, at the intersection. The victim told police that he had locked his doors, but left the sunroof open before leaving the location. When the victim returned to the location, he discovered the vehicle was missing. A photo is included of a vehicle similar in color, year, make and model to the vehicle reported stolen in this incident.
