NOPD Arrests Suspect Wanted on Attempted Murder, Other Charges

The NOPD today (Jan. 13) arrested Keron Cooper (DOB: 09-07-1989), who was wanted by both the NOPD and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges including attempted murder.

At about 7:30 a.m., NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad officers and U.S. Marshals arrived at residence in the 5700 block of Tullis Street after receiving information that Cooper was in the area. Marshals attempted to take Cooper into custody, but Cooper barricaded himself inside of the residence and refused to leave. At that time, NOPD Special Operation Division officers were contacted and a SWAT roll was enacted. Cooper surrendered to police without incident just after noon.

Cooper was also booked as a fugitive wanted by the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office on four counts of attempted murder.

In addition, Cooper was booked into Central Lockup on a Criminal District Court capias in Orleans Parish.

Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
