New Orleans- The NOPD is investigating a homicide reported tonight (January 8, 2026) in the 2600 block of Gravier Street, in the First District.
At about 9:35 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot wound victim. The victim was subsequently declared deceased on scene by EMS. At that time, the signal for the incident was changed to a Homicide.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as to determine motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
