The NOPD has arrested Makahi A. Kelly (black male, DOB: 05-31-2007) and Anthony Johnson (black male, DOB: 08-18-2003) in its ongoing investigation into a homicide that occurred on January 16, 2026, in the 2100 block of Orleans Avenue.
In this incident, a known male victim was found on scene having sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on scene. Three additional victims in this incident sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Kelly as a perpetrator in this incident. Kelly was located and arrested on January 29. He was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.
Additionally, Johnson was also determined to have been involved in this incident. He was arrested and booked on one count of principle to second-degree murder.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
