NOPD Arrests Suspect in Armed Robbery

On January 13, 2023, officers from the Fifth District arrested Richard Carr (Black male, DOB: 05/05/1995) in the investigation of an armed robbery that occurred in the Eighth District.

At about 8:45 pm on January 12, 2023, an armed robbery was reported in the 400 block of Burgundy Street in which a 2019 silver Toyota CHR, was stolen.  The next day, the vehicle was spotted by NOPD officers in the 1100 block of Franklin Avenue.  Fifth District officers found Richard Carr to be the sole occupant inside the vehicle and he was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation Carr was arrested and charged with the following: armed robbery, use of a firearm in a robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and two counts of possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance.  Carr was additionally charged with parole violation.
