NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a 52-year-old man and the shooting of a 45-year-old female. The incident occurred this morning, shortly after 3:00 A.M., on Interstate 10 East at the Esplanade exit. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.

According to investigators, First District officers responded to a report of gunfire and upon their arrival, found the victims inside of a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. The man expired on the scene and the 45-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
