NOPD Arrests Suspects in Investigation of Second District Homicide

On January 5, 2022, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Robert Dickens Sr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-15-1941) and Alvion Dickens (not pictured, black female, DOB: 06-08-2001) in the investigation of the homicide of Anthony Grana on December 13, 2021 in the 1900 block of Dante Street.

On December 13, the victim was found to have been severely beaten by an unknown suspect(s). The victim was transported via EMS to local hospital, where he subsequently expired on December 16. At that time, NOPD’s Homicide Unit assumed control of the investigation.

On December 17, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office officially identified the victim as 51-year-old Grana.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed both Robert Dickens Sr. and Alvion Dickens as having involvement in this incident, with Robert Dickens Sr. being indemnified as the perpetrator. Alvion Dickens is believed to have assisted Robert Dickens Sr. in fleeing the scene.

Robert Dickens Sr. was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on a charge of second-degree murder, while Alvion Dickens was booked for accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Unit Detective Brittany Kimbrough at 504-658-5300.
