NOPD Arrests Suspect in Battery of Police Officer in Third District

The NOPD today (January 6, 2022) arrested Zachary Bott (pictured, white male, DOB: 11-01-2001) in the investigation of a battery of a police officer incident on January 3, 2022 in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., a fully NOPD Third District officer working on a detail for the Lakeview Crime Prevention District viewed a fight occurring in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue. The officer arrived on scene and gave verbal commands to those involved to stop. At that time, the pictured unknown white male armed himself with a metal chair and struck the officer before fleeing the scene on foot. The officer sustained minor injuries.

During the investigation, information received from the public – including a tip received through Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans – aided Third District detectives in developing and positively identifying Bott as the perpetrator in this incident.  An arrest warrant was obtained on a charge of battery of a police officer.

In the presence of his attorney, Bott turned himself in to NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad earlier today. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030.
