NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between December 26-January 1

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between December 26, 2021 and January 1, 2022, in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Shooting

  • On December 26, NOPD Fifth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jahari Levy (black male, DOB: 01-16-1985) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred on December 26 in the 1300 block of Lesseps Street.

 

  • On December 28, NOPD Sixth District detectives arrested Trevan Seals (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-27-1991) for felon in possession of a firearm, and arrested Jamaur Johnson (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-20-1988) for aggravated battery, illegal use of weapons and possession of a firearm by a felon. Detectives also obtained an arrest warrant for Darnell Phoenix (not pictured, black male, DOB: 01-18-1995) for possession of a firearm by a felon. The incident occurred on December 20 in the 1500 block of Delachaise Street.

Armed Robbery

  • On December 31, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested James Johnson (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-21-1992) for armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as well as for a parole violation. The incident occurred on December 31 in the 3600 block of General DeGaulle Drive.

 

Other significant arrests

  • On December 26, wanted suspect Julio “Rocky” Keenum (not pictured, white male, DOB: 04-16-1982) was arrested for one count of attempted second-degree murder. The incident occurred on December 24 in the 400 block of Bourbon Street.

 

  • On December 29, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and the U.S. Marshals arrested Joshua Pepp (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-17-1988) on multiple charges. Through investigation, NOPD Fourth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant on December 15 for Pepp on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, domestic abuse battery strangulation, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, false imprisonment and theft. The charges stemmed from incidents reported on December 15 in the 1200 block of Flanders Street. NOPD VOWS and the U.S. Marshals apprehended Pepp at his residence and without incident. Upon execution of a search warrant at the location, NOPD Fourth District detectives and officers discovered two firearms, firearm accessories, drug paraphernalia and multiple clear plastic bags containing vegetable matter, powered substances and multi-colored pills. Based on these discoveries, detectives additionally charged Pepp for illegal possession of CDS and one count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

 

  • On December 30, NOPD Seventh District officers arrested Quang Nguyen (pictured, Asian male, DOB: 12-24-1978) on multiple charges in the 4900 block of Marseille Street. At approximately 8:00 p.m., Seventh District officers observed Nguyen driving a black 2015 Cadillac ATS that was reported stolen out of Jefferson Parish. They also observed Nguyen disregard a red light then pull into the driveway of a residence. Also in the driveway was an orange Honda moped that was also reported stolen. Officers approached Nguyen and placed him under arrest for possession of the stolen vehicles. A search warrant was obtained and, upon enaction of the warrant, officers found 1.59 pounds of marijuana, 61.3 grams of cocaine, 7.7 grams of methamphetamine. 99 grams of an unknown white powder and 479 Ecstasy pills. Also discovered were three digital scales and four firearms – two handguns, a rifle and a shotgun. Nguyen was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for two counts of illegal possession of stolen things (motor vehicles), possession of the aforementioned illegal drugs with intent to distribute, four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and four counts of illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics.
