NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between January 16-22

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between January 16-22, 2022 in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On January 17, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Asia Bruce (pictured, black female, DOB: 06-06-2003) for obstruction of justice in connection with a homicide incident that occurred on November 26, 2021 in the 6300 block of Florida Avenue.
  • On January 17, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Michael McMillan (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-19-1987) for obstruction of justice and illegal possession of a firearm in connection with a homicide incident that occurred on January 7 in the 2300 block of South Claiborne Avenue.
  • On January 19, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Enrique J. Garcia (pictured, Hispanic male, DOB: 11-06-1998) on one count of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on January 19 in the 800 block of Hagan Street.

Shooting

  • On January 17, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Tiara Tassin (not pictured, black female, DOB: 10-24-1990) for one count of aggravated second-degree battery with a firearm. The incident occurred on November 21, 2021 in the 4500 block of Skyview Drive.
  • On January 18, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested David Coulter Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-21-1990) for two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count each of domestic abuse aggravated assault, aggravated criminal damage, illegal use of weapons and possession of a firearm by felon. The incident occurred on January 16 in the 2000 block of North Rocheblave Street. During execution of a search warrant, officers recovered a handgun and approximately 1.8 grams of crack cocaine.
  • On January 18, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Daniel Coleman (pictured, black male, DOB; 06-12-1979) on one count of attempted second-degree murder. The incident occurred on January 7 in the 2400 block of Mazant Street
  • On January 19, NOPD Third District detectives arrested Don J. Tropez Sr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 09-04-1954) for second-degree aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred on January 19 in the 2400 block of Mexico Street.

Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On January 20, NOPD Sixth District detectives arrested Joseph Hickman (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-02-1995) for two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, one count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, one count of illegal possession of narcotics and one count of illegal possession of a firearm. The arrest was in connection with an armed carjacking incident that occurred on January 18 in the 2100 block of South Roman street. During execution of a search warrant, officers recovered appx. 8.7 grams of cocaine and a firearm.

Other Significant Arrests

  • On January 16, NOPD Third District officers arrested Rebecca Riley (not pictured, black female, DOB: 02-17-1982) on two charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault. The incident occurred on January 16 in the 6200 block of Curie Street.
  • On January 19, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested Anthony Mitchell (black male, DOB: 08-09-1982) for domestic abuse aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a firearm, simple assault and seven counts of violation of a protective order. The arrests came in relation to multiple open investigations.
  • On January 20, NOPD Second District officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) on one count each of second-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and second-degree battery. The incident occurred on January 5 in the 5700 block of South Claiborne Avenue.
  • On January 20, NOPD Third District officers arrested William Decou (not pictured, black male, DOB: 10-26-1996) for aggravated assault and simple battery. The incident occurred on January 20 in the 2700 block of Lavender Street.
