NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between January 9-17

Listed below are clearances by arrest or by warrant obtained between January 9-17, 2022 in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On January 12, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Alvin D. Thomas (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-04-1998) on one count of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on December 11, 2021 in the 3300 block of Saint Claude Avenue.
  • On January 14, the NOPD arrested Benjamin Beale (pictured, white male, DOB: 11/10/1987) on one count of second-degree murder in connection with the discovery of a deceased person's remains at a residence on January 11 in the 2300 block of Pauline Street.
  • On January 14, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Devion Taylor (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-22-2002) on two counts of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on January 8 at the intersection of Benson Street and Curran Road.

Shooting

  • On January 13, NOPD Sixth District officers arrested Kentrail Toney (pictured, black male, DOB; 03-18-1976) on one count of second-degree battery and one count of illegal use of a firearm. The incident occurred on January 10 in the 2100 block of South Derbigny Street.

Armed Robbery/Armed Carjacking

  • On January 11, NOPD Second District officers arrested Quinton Skipper (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-29-2003) and a 17-year-old juvenile black male (not pictured) on one count each of armed robbery (carjacking). The incident occurred on January 10 in the 4300 block of South Prieur Street. The two subjects were also arrested for an attempted carjacking on January 10 in the 2300 block of Cadiz Street. Additionally, Skipper was also arrested for an unarmed carjacking on January 7 at the intersection of Camp and Euterpe streets and for an attempted armed carjacking on January 10 in the 2200 block of General Pershing Street.

 

  • On January 16, NOPD Second District officers arrested Keyhaid McGhee (not pictured, black male, DOB: 01-31-2003) on one count of principle to armed robbery. The incident occurred on January 15 in the 2200 block of Audubon Street.
     
  • The NOPD arrested four teenage juvenile males (not pictured) on one count each of theft of a motor vehicle. Additionally, one of the juveniles was charged with first-degree robbery and the three other juveniles were charged with principle to armed robbery. The incident occurred on January 11 in the 3700 block of Hamburg Street. The juveniles were arrested on January 13 and January 17, respectively. The four were also each charged with one count of felony escape.
  • On January 15, NOPD Third District officers arrested a 16-year-old juvenile black male (not pictured) for armed robbery with a firearm. The incident occurred on January 15 in the 2000 block of Brutus Street.
  • On January 16, NOPD Second District detectives – assisted by the Violent Crime Abatement and Intelligence Team – arrested Camron Bryant (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-24-2003) on one count of armed robbery. The incident occurred on January 15, at the intersection of Pelopidas Street and Elysian Fields Avenue.
  • On January 12, NOPD Sixth District detectives obtained arrest warrants for Jeremy Mills (not pictured, white male, DOB: 09-09-1987) and Anthony Warren (not pictured, black male, DOB: 08-19-1980) for one count each of first-degree robbery and aggravated battery. The incident occurred on January 10 in the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue.
