NOPD Investigating Homicide, Shooting in Fourth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (January 27, 2021) in the 3400 block of Kabel Drive that left one person dead and two injured.

At about 1:43 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Kabel and General DeGaulle drives. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim inside of a vehicle in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Kabel Drive and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Detectives learned that two additional victims in this incident - an infant female and an adult female - arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance. The infant female sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg. The adult female was not injured.

Additionally, detectives determined a victim found in the 1600 block of Southlawn Boulevard with a gunshot wound to the abdomen has been determined to be involved in this incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital via EMS.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
